1989 got off to an excellent start for the breed with Ch Forstal Meshka
winning Reserve Working Group at Crufts under Andrew Thomson. He was beaten by a Bearded Collie who went on to win Best In Show. Not bad, eh!

Later in the year at Leeds Ch Show, Sue Knowles, Sarawana Zcherazarde also won Reserve Working Group (now known as Working Group 2) under Breed Judge David Samuel and Working Group Judge, Tom Horner.

The Breed which had now been allocated 10 sets of Challenge Certificates, was given yet another set for the Midland Counties Show. (11 in total).

The Siberian Husky Club Of Great Britain now provided 2 Judges at their show, one for dogs and the other for bitches. At the end of the show both judges would decide on Best In Show and the other overall top winners. In the event that they could not agree a Referee, who had previously been appointed for the show, would judge the two dogs in question and then decide on the winner.

There were 5 Breed Judges; (Judges who own the breed)
Les Crawley (Sweethill); Lynn Harrison (Brushbow); Sally Leich; Sheril Leich (Forstal); & Ana Sanchez, (Asturias)

7 All Rounders
(Judges who can award tickets to Siberian Huskies but do not own the breed)

And 1 Foreign Judge, (Nancy Van Gelderen Parker from Holland)

There were 2 Champions crowned in 1989 (Total Breed Champions 12)
The dog with the most Challenge Certificates was Ch Forstal Meshka
with 6
