This year the Leich’s Ch Forstal Meshka made breed history by being the only Siberian Husky to win Best In Show at an all breeds Champion Show. He won Best Working Group (WG1) and Best In Show at The Scottish Kennel Club under Breed Judge Ann Arch & Group Judge Andrew Thomson. Later in the year he again took Best Working Group at The Ladies Kennel Association under breed Judge, Mike Stockman and Group Judge Andrew Thomson.

Again there were 4 Breed Specialists; (Judges who own the breed)
Liz Leich (Forstal), John Evans (Mikalya), Chris McCrae (Zoox)
& Caroline Stockman (Polarnights).

And 8 All Rounders
(Judges who can award tickets to Siberian Huskies but do not own the breed)

There were 3 Champions crowned in 1990 (Total Breed Champions 15)
The dog with the most Challenge Certificates was Leich’s Ch Forstal Meshka with 12

The Ladies Kennel Association made history itself this year when Mother Nature attacked in full force and hundreds of us were snowed in at the N.E.C. in Birmingham. The cold aside, it was a great night with a wonderful atmosphere. The stalls sold out of dog blankets very quickly, fortunately the tea & coffee was kept in supply. Of course, we Siberian Husky owners got lots of stick with several comments like, “You can get home alright!” and “Can’t you just hitch up these dogs to the car and mush!”. Hmmm

Of course the dogs loved it! We eventually all camped down on the dog benches for the night. Most of the Sibes cuddled in, not mine, oh no! Kita just looked at me in disgust, “What on earth are you doing on my bench?!!”. She is most definitely the queen of aloofness, cuddles on her terms only.

Their is always a down side. We were the lucky ones in the halls. Many people were stuck outside in their cars and several suffered from hypothermia. The M6 was like one big car park, no-one could move.

Fortunately the next morning, the roads were cleared and we were all able to head back home, with lots of interesting memories about a show we will never forget!
